And Jagmeet seemed to phone it in that last year. Unprepared for interviews, just didn't seem to be all there.

He advocates for a public option for groceries, a 21st-century electricity grid powered by renewable energy, and a Canadian Green New Deal to create millions of jobs.

He highlights that 1% of Canadians control as much wealth as 80% of the population, emphasizing the need to redistribute wealth to rebuild universal public services and transition away from fossil fuels.

Lewis advocates for a public developer to build non-market, non-profit, supportive, and cooperative housing. He argues against the current approach of giving public money to private corporations. He highlights Vienna's successful public housing model.

Nenshi's 'blunt' message to federal NDP: Don't mess this up for Alberta

- He explicitly referenced past tensions between Rachel Notley and Jagmeet Singh over pipelines.

Where the Federal Candidates Stand
Avi Lewis
- Most left‑wing candidate; strongest fundraising.
- Opposes increasing fossil fuel production.
- This puts him directly at odds with several provincial NDP governments.
- Says disagreements are normal and resolvable.
Heather McPherson
- Only sitting NDP MP in the race.
- Represents an Edmonton riding that overlaps with Nenshi’s base.
- More aligned with pragmatic provincial NDP positions.
Rob Ashton
- Union leader; sharply criticized Lewis.
- Says Lewis’s politics “turn New Democrats against each other.”
- Argues provincial NDP leaders don’t need Ottawa lecturing them.

You should watch Rachael Gilmores' interviews with all the candidates.

Very informative.

I have no appetite for opposition parties in a time of war.

TLDR Avi is the only one with a plan at all that will fit the base and have a chance at winning a seat. IMHO I see the NDP getting 2 seats next election. If I had to vote it would be with Heather thou.

MPs are elected, not parties: Jason emphasizes that Canadians vote for a person to represent their riding, not for a party logo. Under the Canada Elections Act and the Constitution, the seat belongs to the individual Member of Parliament, not the party they represent.
Floor crossing is legal: Because the seat belongs to the MP, they are free to leave their party, sit as an independent, or join another party without triggering a by-election.
Misinformation damages democracy: Jason argues that the NDP is damaging public understanding of the system to score political points. He calls for Don Davies to be removed as interim leader for either misunderstanding or intentionally misrepresenting the Constitution and Elections Act

Exactly. This is something traditional in our politics and is a hell of a lot more democratic that a gaggle of nutlPreess sycophants beholden ro their leader (A La GOP)
I'm pretty sure she's aware she can serve her constituents better from within the govt than from within a broom closet and I tend to be more impressed with politicians delivering progressive results rather than slavishly following ideology.
I'm not a typical negativist conservative that thinks getting half of what you want is a total failure.
