Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has survived a motion in parliament aimed at bringing down his government and triggering an election.

Wednesday's no-confidence vote is the first in a series of similar votes expected to be put forward by the opposition Conservative Party amid Trudeau's plummeting approval ratings.

And yet, PP can't get him out.

Yep. The opposition parties don't want an election yet. The Cons are strong in the polls. I think JT will call an election well after Christmas; he's hoping his fortunes will turn around.

Minorities fall by accident not by design. We are too close to the edge and one wrong vote it will fold like a cheap suit and PP is going to keep plugging away till it does.

Agreed. PP will keep on trying to topple the government. Hopefully the NDP and Bloc will prop up JT for now. I really don't want a Trump-lite PM.

The opposition doesn't want PM PP either.

You mean they want him even less.
All he's shown is grandstanding and obstructionism, the other parties want actual results.

To the cons nothing getting anything done is the goal. They just want power so they can be 1st in line at the trough. PP is as popular in Montreal as JT is in Calgary. Federalism has no strong champion. Quebec going hard for the bloc as they have tried all flavors of federalism and they keep getting burned for it. So, we get yet another economy killing referendum.

I don't think there is any appetite for another referendum.

Pretty sure First Nations would have a veto.
