A U.S. defense official says nearly 900 U.S. strikes were launched in the first 12 hours, from land, air and sea, including drones, while forces defended against hundreds of incoming Iranian ballistic missiles.

Iran fired about 300 missiles today and is believed to have 4000 total, split between long and short range systems, rebuilt since last summer.

In Bahrain, Iran hit an empty warehouse and a radar dome at the 5th Fleet HQ, but officials say operations were not affected due to redundancies.

The stated goal is to strip Iran of its ability to attack neighbors, eliminating drones, missiles and naval capabilities. U.S. officials say they know the location of Iran’s highly enriched uranium, though it is difficult to access.
